Don’t be alarmed if you notice what looks like an increased police presence around University at Albany’s Alumni Quad on the school’s downtown campus this Wednesday and Thursday.

UAlbany has alerted the media that it will hold active shooter training drills 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on July 6 and noon-8 p.m. on July 7 in the Alumni Quad at Brubacher Hall, which is on State Street between Ontario and Partridge streets.

The training sessions will be closed to the public, but will involve actors and role-players, and may generate some chatter on police scanners.

There will be an increased police presence outside the building throughout each training.

Campus officials specify that the drills should have minimal impact on campus activities since most of the students are away on summer break.
